How We Celebrated Kids Day

2,000 children. 7 Schools.

A Day to Celebrate Education.

These kids walked over 4 kilometers (over 2 miles, each way) to join us for kids day.

This year, our staff split into two groups. The first group leaving at 2am and the second at 4am to head out to our village communities to begin our day.

As the sun rose, and roosters crowed our group of volunteers worked hard to make sure everything was set up perfectly for the arrival of our first school, and each school there after.

Happy to take a break for lunch.

Jaclyn, Carlos and Sr. Pedro Lopez, a local government official kicked off the day. There were 5 bouncy houses, tables filled with games and crafts, face painting, soccer (futbol), basketball and tug-a-war relays set up. Hamburgers and chips for every child as well as a popsicle and hydration station were also available. (A big thank you to Pati and her team of mama's who spent 9 hours in the kitchen to make sure every belly was full.) Every child had a ticket in their hand that they would take to the different stations around the property to collect their prizes.

Volunteers from Lincoln School, The House GDL, Imprimax, our Marked community and more made this day not only possible but so fun. Sami MC'd the day and introduced each school as they arrived.

The giggles and laughter that filled the air all day were worth far more than gold.

One of seven school groups.

The teachers, directors and government officials all thanked us for making this possible. But more, for the simple fact that because of Marked, more children are enrolled in school than ever before, and the conversations are being had about the importance of education.

We can't thank our donors and partners enough. Because of you, these days are made possible. For us, this day was all about celebrating the children who are saying yes to their education and yes to their future.

These lives are changing, and history among this community is being made.

Cheers to changing the world, one child at a time.
